Last year, health checks carried out at Italian border control posts covered 48,480 consignments of animals, products of animal origin and animal feed, and 231,966 consignments of food of non-animal origin, plant-based feed, and materials and objects intended to come into contact with food, whilst the Veterinary Offices for EU Compliance reported 2,214,771 consignments of animals and products of animal origin.
