The “Premula” bottle by Fonte Tvllia—designed by Gentlebrand and manufactured in glass by Verallia Italia—combines design research, a sense of place, and environmental awareness to support the brand’s premium positioning

The collaboration between Tulli Acque Minerali, Gentlebrand and Verallia Italia has resulted in the new 75 cl custom bottle for Fonte Tvllia. The result of a development process lasting over two years, the project began in December 2023 with the aim of complementing the current Tullia “L’Unica” 75 and 100 cl products, which are also produced exclusively by Verallia Italia, by expanding the range with a container capable of reinforcing the brand identity through a contemporary design language.

The new bottle has been designed to stand out in the premium catering and hospitality segment. Its clean, harmonious lines complement a new graphic design developed by Fonte Tvllia, which has opted for high-quality paper and a more delicate colour palette. The design, conceived by Gentlebrand, becomes a strategic tool, capable of enhancing a spring with a centuries-old history and improving brand recognition.

A project that combines sustainability and innovation

Sustainability was one of the guiding criteria throughout the development process. The switch from Extra White (EXB) to White (BN) glass makes it possible to increase the average content of external cullet used in production to 35.5% (Verallia Italia average, BN colour, external cullet, 2025).

At the same time, the weight of the bottle was reduced to 440 grams. The combined effect of lightening the glass and changing its colour has made it possible to reduce CO₂ emissions from production activities (Scope 1 and Scope 2) by 20%, making a tangible contribution to the company’s decarbonisation journey.
Logistics, too, has been reimagined with a circular approach through the introduction of a transport crate made of HDPE containing 80% recycled material, helping to reduce the use of virgin materials across the supply chain.

“Projects like this confirm a clear direction: the market is calling for containers that are an integral part of a product’s identity, not merely packaging. That is where glass makes the difference, and that is where Verallia intends to keep investing”, states the Verallia Italia team.

A container that tells the story of the spring

The new bottle accompanies the launch of “Premula”, evoking the origins of the oligomineral spring located in the municipality of Sellano, Umbria—a source known for centuries. In 1964, the Tulli family restored the ancient convent where the spring rises, subsequently securing the concession rights. Since 1974, the water has been bottled under the FONTE TVLLIA brand. The new packaging interprets this heritage through contemporary forms, reinforcing the dialogue between tradition, product quality, and local identity.

“Premula is the ancient name of the spring where the Fonte Tvllia story began. Reviving it was not an exercise in nostalgia; we returned to our roots to find a contemporary language capable of entering the world of fine dining while carrying our history with us. We asked Gentlebrand to translate this concept into an identity and design, and Verallia Italia to transform it into a tangible object. For us, Premula is not just a change of attire—it is a new way of telling the story of where we want to go“, states the Tulli Acque Minerali team.

The design process

Gentlebrand partnered with Tulli Acque Minerali throughout the entire packaging development process, translating brand objectives into a tangible solution—spanning from the initial concept and 3D modeling to the photorealistic renderings that guided the project’s validation. Collaboration with Verallia Italia’s technical team made it possible to verify the industrial feasibility of every design choice and ensure compatibility with the returnable bottle system, a key requirement for the HoReCa channel.
“The result is a container designed to perform equally well on the bottling line and at the restaurant table, and to support Fonte Tvllia’s growth in the domestic market as well as its future international expansion”, the Gentlebrand team comments.
