Con il suo inserimento nel Registro dell’Unione delle Indicazioni geografiche, salgono a 892 le Ig italiane

Oliodei Colli di Bologna has been awarded PGI status. Its inclusion in the Union Register of Geographical Indications was “formalised” by Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/2078, published in the Official Journal of the European Union, series L, on 16 September.

Olio dei Colli di Bologna is an extra virgin olive oil produced in Emilia-Romagna, with a free acidity of no more than 0.3%, an oleic acid content of 72% or more and a linoleic acid content of no more than 10%, and with a balanced and harmonious profile, with a medium intensity of fruity, bitter and spicy notes. Its production area is part of the natural site “Karst in the evaporites and caves of the northern Apennines”, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2023.

This new designation joins the more than 3,900 geographical indications (GIs) already registered in the eAmbrosia database. “Of these – according to a statement published on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Sovereignty – 892 are Italian”.
