When data and processes become a competitive advantage in the food and beverage industry

Elipsis, the Industrial AI platform designed to integrate energy, production and operational data into a single architecture, will be at Cibus Tec 2026

The food and beverage industry is undergoing a profound transformation. Energy costs are rising, regulatory pressure is increasing, margins are shrinking, and the demand for quality and sustainability is ever higher. In this scenario, the difference is not just made by plants or production technologies, but by the ability to use data to make faster and more informed decisions.

This is where Elipsis comes in – the Industrial AI platform designed to integrate energy, production and operational data into a single architecture, transforming them into useful information to improve efficiency, performance and compliance.

From 27 to 30 October 2026, Elipsis will be present at Cibus Tec, the leading international event for technologies dedicated to the Food & Beverage sector, which for over 80 years has been one of the main meeting points for innovation, automation, digitalisation and sustainability in the food industry.

From data to decision: integrating production, energy, quality and maintenance

In food companies, data is everywhere: packaging lines, processing plants, utilities, supervisory systems, ERP, MES and quality platforms. The problem is that they often remain separate.

When energy, production, quality and maintenance are not in dialogue with each other, it becomes difficult to understand the real causes of inefficiencies, identify waste or measure the impact of an operational decision.

Elipsis was created to overcome this fragmentation. The platform collects and correlates information from PLCs, SCADA, sensors, business systems and plant infrastructure, creating a single, shared view of production processes.

Typical challenges in the Food & Beverage sector, Elipsis’ response and benefits for the company

ChallengeResponseBenefit
High energy costs that are difficult to attribute to the linesCorrelation between consumption, production and utilitieskWh per unit produced, per line and per shift
Unplanned machine downtimesVibration condition monitoringAlarm before failure, not after failure
Difficulty in linking quality and processProcess parameters related to qualitative KPIsPrediction of the quality parameter before the laboratory data
Maintenance of subsidised 4.0/5.0 asset requirementsContinuous verification and documented historical evidenceTax benefit that can be defended in the event of an audit

A concrete example. In a continuous process plant, the quality parameter that guides the dosing comes from the laboratory with a delay of about two hours: the shift makes corrections based on past data. Elipsis has built a predictive model that estimates that parameter in-line based solely on the process data already available in the plant, validated by cross-validation on the historical series. No new sensors, no additional sampling. The shift now has the forecast two hours before the laboratory data and makes corrections while the product is still being processed.

Efficiency, sustainability and compliance on the same platform

The data used to improve energy efficiency can become the basis for reporting emissions, calculating the carbon footprint and managing regulatory obligations.

This enables companies to avoid separate systems and redundant data collection, building a single information infrastructure to support operations, energy management and sustainability.

This is a particularly attractive approach for Food & Beverage companies, which are increasingly being asked to demonstrate quality, safety and sustainability with verifiable data.

We look forward to seeing you at Cibus Tec, Fiere di Parma

During the event, you will be able to learn more about the applications of the Elipsis platform through demos, real-life case studies and direct discussions with the team.
