Since 1978, AROL has been an international benchmark in capping and closure solutions, adopting an approach that combines technology and craftsmanship.
Its mission is to be recognised as an industry expert, providing equipment and services with high added value

In the heart of Piedmont, between the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato regions, wine excellence is an ecosystem built on knowledge, precision and care. In this UNESCO-recognised region, AROL has been an international benchmark in corking and closure solutions since 1978, adopting an approach that combines technology and craftsmanship. Bottling is the final step that safeguards the work of the entire supply chain: every detail affects the consumer’s perception, and the closure must be reliable, repeatable and measurable.

Mission, business model and global presence

AROL’s mission is to be recognised as an expert in locking systems, offering high-value-added equipment and services with a focus on consumer safety. Values such as honouring commitments, building lasting relationships and fostering innovation guide our technological and organisational decisions.

AROL operates according to a vertical model: over 95% of the mechanical parts are manufactured in-house, thanks to a department equipped with more than 60 automatic machines, many of which operate 24/7. This enables fast turnaround times, standardisation and continuous metrological control. Every year, we deliver hundreds of corking machines and orientation systems, as well as thousands of spare parts, supported by a global service organisation. The installed base exceeds 25,000 machines.

Based in Canelli (AT), where its R&D and production facilities are located, AROL operates globally, with a presence in Europe, the Americas and Asia, providing support to international wineries and groups.

The relationship with wine is central: since 1978, more than 5,000 dedicated corking machines have been used for various wine types, helping to develop specialist expertise on the interaction between the cork, the bottle and the product. The aim is to ensure a ‘perfect marriage’ between the stopper and the bottle, preserving the wine’s aromas, freshness and quality over time.

The world of closures: a technical and identity-based choice

The range of closures is wide: cork remains a hallmark of identity, while crown caps and aluminium caps (ROPP) offer practical and secure solutions. Other options, such as T-caps or plastic closures, meet the brand’s cost, functionality and positioning requirements. Choosing a closure involves striking a balance between product protection, consumer expectations and sustainability.

In the cork segment, QUASAR and SATURNO are AROL’s main solutions. QUASAR is designed for high performance and ease of sanitisation, while SATURNO prioritises compactness and operational simplicity. Both include features such as air extraction and inert gas injection to reduce oxidation.

For crown corks, ESSE PK ensures precision and stability thanks to its magnetic head. For the classic method, LA CHAMPENOISE is designed for closure using a muselet and a crown cap, delivering high performance even in compact versions for small-scale production.

Aluminium caps are on the rise due to their practicality and customisability. EURO VA/VPA offers flexible configurations and systems for sanitisation, vacuuming and gas injection. The EURO range also includes solutions for pressure caps, such as plastic or glass caps, with systems that ensure precise insertion and safety.

Smart data and competitiveness: the MORE system

Competitiveness also depends on the ability to interpret and use data: MORE (Monitoring, Optimisation, Reporting, Evaluation) is AROL’s system that collects and organises information from bottling lines, providing a clear overview of production, downtime and performance. This enables the improvement of operational efficiency, the optimisation of maintenance, and the reduction of response times, thereby transforming data into a tangible tool for management and continuous improvement.

Seal tightly to preserve the contents

In this context, corking plays a strategic role. Corking a wine properly means protecting its value in every respect: preserving its bouquet and aromas, controlling its development over time, preventing unwanted oxidation, and ensuring a shelf life that is in line with the product’s positioning. This is not a mere technical step, but a process that requires precision, control and consistency, in which every detail contributes to the consumer’s ultimate experience.

From the selection of closures to application technologies and digital performance measurement, AROL’s approach integrates mechanics, automation, and smart data into a single ecosystem. This model combines efficiency and quality, ensuring that the “perfect union” between cork and bottle remains reliable and consistent over time, and helping to preserve the identity and value of every wine, bottle after bottle.
