OMRON introduces the S8NR series of IP67 power supplies, designed for installation directly on the machine, outside the control panel. Available in power ratings from 90 W to 600 W (24 VDC), the 360 W and 600 W models integrate up to six individually protected outputs into a single device. This feature reduces the number of components the engineer must select and wire, simplifying design. Alongside the S8NR series, OMRON also introduces the S8R-BB DC Blocking Box, with IP67 protection, which also allows control circuits to be wired outside the control panel.
The main benefit is greater visibility of the system and faster interventions. In the 360 W and 600 W models, the digital display shows real-time voltage, current, and alarms for each channel, while a dedicated LED for each output allows for immediate identification of any anomalies.

Control goes beyond circuit monitoring and enables predictive maintenance. A built-in function monitors the status of internal capacitors, indicating their remaining life in years and percentages, so replacement can be planned before failure. IO-Link communication allows for remote access and configuration.
Installation is also faster. OMRON’s Smartclick connectors reduce connection time to approximately four seconds, compared to twelve seconds for a traditional screw connector. The slotted bracket facilitates single-person positioning, while DIN rail mounting offers another option for speeding up installation.
The configuration can be adapted to the application’s needs: tripping currents are adjustable in 0.1 A increments, and the start of each output can be delayed in 0.1-second intervals. By starting loads sequentially rather than simultaneously, current peaks can be limited and the power supply can be tripped. Precise threshold adjustment also allows for the use of smaller cable cross-sections.
The same simplification logic extends to control circuits thanks to the S8R-BB DC Blocking Box. The device connects with the same Smartclick system as the S8NR, allowing both power and safety wiring to be completed on-board. According to OMRON’s analysis of a representative circuit, the combined use of the S8NR-S and S8R-BB reduces the number of components required from ten to two.
Installing power supplies on-board the machine optimizes space and heat dissipation, but can reduce control over what happens in each circuit. The S8NR was designed to maintain this visibility wherever it is installed, so engineers don’t have to mistake one problem for another.
