Generational change at the top of the family business, an international textile services provider

Effective August 1, Christian Funk will be the new Chairman of the Board of Directors (CEO) of the Mewa Group, an international textile service provider.

“With Funk,” a company statement reads, “Mewa Group is gaining a highly experienced manager with proven expertise in managing large service companies with complex operational logistics networks and several thousand employees. After holding senior positions at the Boston Consulting Group and the Thomas Cook Group, Funk joined Compass Group in 2020, where he has served as CEO of Compass Group Germany since 2022”.

The change in leadership is part of a long-term, generational transition and underscores Mewa Group’s goal of further consolidating its position as a successful family-run business characterized by sustainable growth.

“In Christian Funk, we have found an excellent successor as Chairman of the Board of Directors. His international experience and transformation expertise will provide significant impetus for the next phase of the Mewa Group’s development”, emphasizes Andreas Söffing, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

At the same time, the Supervisory Board recognizes the merits of the previous Chairman of the Board of Directors, Bernhard Niklewitz, who has contributed significantly to the company’s development since 2000. Under his leadership, the fundamental foundations for the Mewa Group’s long-term growth, economic stability, and sustainability were laid. Bernhard Niklewitz will retire from the company on May 31, 2026.

“We thank Niklewitz for his many years of commitment and his strong personal connection to our company”, emphasizes Gabriele Gebauer, granddaughter of the founder and honorary chair of the Supervisory Board.
