KERN & SOHN has enhanced the KERN ORL 94BS digital benchtop refractometer with new features: the OXR-BASIC software helps users to take measurements and to save and export the measurement results. In addition, the refractometer can be equipped from the outset with up to eight customisable digital scales. Depending on the type of measurement, the instrument displays the results directly on the appropriate scale.
From AdBlue® to fructose
Users can choose from a wide range of scales for different types of measurement. The available options include, among others, measurement scales for AdBlue ®, salinity, the Oechsle scale, alcohol content, battery fluid or fructose. As a result, the refractometer is now suitable for an even wider range of laboratory applications. KERN also retrofits the additional scales on KERN ORL 94BS devices that have already been delivered.
Manage measurement data directly on your PC

KERN offers the OXR-Basic software for free download, enabling measurements to be performed, viewed, and documented directly on a computer. Measured values are transmitted from the refractometer in real time and can be displayed graphically, saved, and exported for further processing. Users can also define limit values and clearly analyze the measurement data. The connection between the refractometer and the PC is established via USB.
Precise laboratory measurements
The KERN ORL 94BS measures the Brix value and refractive index based on the principle of total reflection. Its wide measurement range and high precision allow for a variety of applications. Thanks to automatic temperature compensation (ATC), the refractometer corrects for temperature-related effects on the measured value. A large display with an integrated temperature readout makes it easy to read the measured values. Calibration is quick and simple, using distilled water.
