The Report on the Self-Assessment process for the year 2025 of consistency with the compliance elements identified by the Guideline for the operation and improvement of official control activities of the authorities involved in food safety and veterinary public health has been published on the Ministry of Health website .
The participation of the competent authorities (Ministry (DGSA and DGISA Directorates-General and UVAC and PCF peripheral offices), Regions and Autonomous Provinces and ASLs) was high (72%), but lower than in previous years, since for the years 2024, 2023 and 2022 there was a participation of 93%, 89% and 94% respectively.
Among other things, the survey showed, as part of the self-assessment, a high level of evidence of compliance for sub-part 4.4 (Organisation) by all competent authorities. In addition, high levels of evidence of compliance were recorded:
- by the Local Health Authorities, for sub-part 6.3 (Consequences of controls (non-compliance and sanctions));
- by the Regions, for sub-part 5.4.3 (National reference laboratories) and 6.2 (Registration/approval of feed and food business establishments);
- by the Ministry, for sub-part 6.3 (Consequences of controls (non-compliance and sanctions)), 4.2 (Independence, impartiality, integrity, confidentiality) and 4.1 (General provisions).
Conversely, the lowest level of evidence of compliance was self-assessed:
- by the Local Health Authorities, for sub-parts 4.3 (Coordination and interface of the supervisory authority, including with other authorities and institutions), 5.2 (Qualification of personnel);
- by the Regions, for part 7 (Other official activities) and sub-parts 6.4 (System for issuing official certifications) and 4.3 (Coordination and interface of the supervisory authority, including with other authorities and institutions);
- by the Ministry, for sub-parts 4.5 (Infrastructure, equipment and working environment) and 5.1 (Education and training).
