The Pederobba-based brewery introduces its innovative 5-liter “Minikeg” system—a compact and flexible solution perfect for pubs looking to expand their offerings, as well as for home consumption and social gatherings with friends

Enjoying a top-quality, artisanal draft beer in the comfort of your own home—with a system that ensures a perfect pour and an exceptional drinking experience—is now possible. Alternatively, for those who run a brewery, bar, or pub, it offers a way to expand a draft beer selection without the need for structural modifications. You can simply offer your customers—perhaps on a rotating basis or for special occasions—a unique “beer of the day,” served perfectly in a glass. This is the concept behind 32 Via dei Birrai: artisanal draft beer that is more versatile, flexible, and easy to manage, thanks to a 5-liter “Minikeg” system. It is designed to bring professional-quality draft beer to settings where a dedicated dispensing system might not exist—whether on a bar counter, at a dinner with friends, during a party, or simply at home.

32 Via dei Birrai is an artisanal brewery established in 2006 in Pederobba (Treviso) by three friends who decided to join forces, entrepreneurial ingenuity, and a passion for nature. Choosing to go against the grain, they set out to produce high-quality Italian beers with consistent standards, using a production chain rooted in eco-friendly principles. Their focus has always been on excellence—a commitment now further upheld by the adoption of the Minikeg system for their new 5-liter keg.

How it works

The heart of the system lies in its container technology. Inside the small keg, the beer from 32 Via dei Birrai is held in a pouch, completely isolated from the air used for dispensing; as you pump, the pouch is gradually compressed, ensuring the air never comes into direct contact with the beer. This prevents oxidation and preserves the beer’s freshness and organoleptic qualities for longer, allowing you to enjoy the product at your own pace. In short, all you need is a “dispenser” or “tap unit”—a one-time, affordably priced purchase that can be reused indefinitely, as it is compatible with all subsequent “Minikegs”—to pour a perfect draft beer, anywhere and at any time.

This solution is far simpler and more accessible than more elaborate home-draft systems; it lowers the initial investment and makes draft beer an option even in settings where it would have previously been impractical. This flexibility is also highly advantageous for the Horeca (hospitality) sector. A pub or bar can offer a different beer—for a single evening, a specific event, or a limited period—without needing to modify their existing draft setup or commit to the large volumes required for standard professional kegs. Furthermore, for establishments with independent tap lines, the 32 Via dei Birrai keg can be connected directly to the existing system using a dedicated adapter.

The debut with Atra

This new development marks the beginning of a project designed to evolve over time, featuring a rotating selection of different beers throughout the year. It launches with Atra—the quintessential dark beer—an intense, full-bodied brew with an ABV of 7%. It is perfectly suited for winter and the upcoming holiday season; its robust structure invites a slower pace of drinking, making it an ideal companion for seasonal flavors such as chestnuts, pumpkin, hearty soups, ribollita, rich dishes, aged cheeses, and desserts featuring dried fruits or nuts. This character aligns with the tradition of “winter beers,” a staple in pubs and taverns during the colder months. Looking ahead, the 5-liter mini-keg format will also be introduced for other beers in the 32 Via dei Birrai range—such as Curmi, Opale, and 3+2—tailored to the changing seasons and various drinking occasions.

The 5-liter format

The 5-liter format addresses a market demand for greater variety, smaller quantities, and more frequent consumption occasions—large enough for a group gathering or an evening with friends, yet compact enough to ensure the beer doesn’t sit unused for too long. It can be stored in a refrigerator (or a cellar—or even on a terrace during the colder months), or, in a hospitality setting, in standard keg storage units.

With the “Minikeg” system, 32 Via dei Birrai adds another element to its ongoing exploration of how craft beer is served and consumed. It is more than just a new container; it is a tool that expands the opportunities for craft beer to be offered and shared on tap.
