The BioDtex lamp and the NOVALUM II X Bioluminometer are two effective solutions for immediately detecting the presence of biofilm and contamination hidden in bottling systems and environments. Biofilm is a complex, adhesive layer of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, algae) that forms on surfaces and pipes, often invisible to the naked eye even after thorough cleaning procedures. Resistant to common detergents and disinfectants, it can harbor pathogens, leading to dangerous consequences such as product recalls and damage to a company’s reputation. The BioDtex® UV detection lamp makes the invisible visible and is the innovative solution that is changing the paradigm of biofilm detection: a portable, precision UV lamp developed by the British company BioScan Ltd that makes biofilm visible in real time, enabling targeted interventions and immediate verification of the effectiveness of sanitization procedures.
For comprehensive hygiene monitoring, BioDtex integrates seamlessly with rapid swabs that are read using the Novalum II X bioluminometer. The BioDtex® UV lamp helps identify problem areas. The Pocketswab Plus swabs are used to assess the level of contamination.
In just 5 seconds, the Novalum II X bioluminometer detects the presence of ATP in the sample collected with the Pocketswab Plus swab and returns a quantitative value in RLU (Relative Light Units).
The more light emitted, the higher the level of contamination. Monitoring the presence of biofilms prevents cross-contamination and the spread of pathogens, thereby improving the safety of bottling facilities.
