The Food & Beverage Process: three products, one integrated solution

Turck Banner solutions ensure real-time detection, communication, and issue signaling throughout the entire production chain

In a bottling line, and in food processing in general, operations often require frequent use of high-pressure water and aggressive detergents. Turck Banner solutions are designed with these demands in mind and can ensure detection, communication and real-time reporting of issues along the entire production chain.

Let’s outline a process in three steps:

Q4X sensor

1. Detect: Q4X sensor
It all starts with the container. The Q4X, with its food-grade stainless steel housing, simultaneously measures distance and light intensity against a stable background.

This allows it to recognize transparent objects, such as bottles, without the need for a reflector. Its IP69K rating makes it suitable for high-pressure, high-temperature washdowns, as well as vibration and impact.

Clean Line TBEN modules

2. Communicate: Clean Line TBEN
The signal is collected by TBEN Clean Line modules, designed for decentralized installation directly in the field, even in washdown environments.

Via IO-Link, the module sends the control system not only the on/off status but also measurement values and diagnostics, and allows devices to be configured remotely, without long cable runs to the control cabinet.

3. Signal: WLS27
Once the data has been processed, the operator needs to be able to view and analyze it quickly.

WLS27 Pro light bar

The WLS27 Pro light bar has an FDA-grade polyester housing, is IP69K-rated and is controllable via IO-Link: RGBW colors, animations and brightness are set directly from the PLC.

Green for regular production, yellow for a warning, red for a stop: this makes the machine status immediately readable.

Turck Banner can therefore deliver a line with less cabling, faster commissioning, centralized diagnostics and more targeted maintenance.
