At Cibus Tec 2026, Mettler-Toledo demonstrates how product inspection can help food manufacturers enhance safety, quality control, and regulatory compliance

Food companies can safely inspect their products—thereby protecting both consumers and their brand—by adopting inspection solutions like those showcased by Mettler-Toledo at their stand. Cibus Tec 2026 provides the platform to unveil the M50 R-Series AdvancedLine metal detector in Italy for the first time, alongside the X13 X-ray inspection system and the CM3350 combination system. Visitors can see these inspection technologies in action firsthand inside the demonstration van located outside Hall 02. The Italian debut of the M50 R-Series marks a pivotal moment for manufacturers, offering advanced capabilities without adding unnecessary complexity to the production process. Designed to ensure the reliable detection and rejection of metal-contaminated products in complex food applications, the system helps maintain control over critical points while keeping production lines running. Its intuitive 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen remains fully functional even when users are wearing gloves or the screen is wet. The new Infinity electronic testing system represents a significant leap forward in routine testing, automating essential processes and boosting productivity. Brand protection is further enhanced by a new RFID-based access control system, which supports personalized user access and instantly displays details on the screen in the user’s preferred language.

Inspection for a wide range of foreign bodies

The new M50 R series metal detectors feature secure connectivity and represent the most sensitive, compliance-ready metal detection platform ever produced by Mettler-Toledo. Their presence at Cibus Tec offers Italian food manufacturers the opportunity to view the system firsthand, speak with inspection specialists, and discuss how metal detection can be applied to their specific products, packaging formats, and future production challenges. At the stand, Mettler-Toledo is also showcasing the X13 inspection system, allowing visitors to discover how X-ray technology supports foreign body detection and product quality control in bulk, unpackaged product applications. The system detects and rejects products contaminated by a wide range of dense contaminants (metal, stone, and glass) as small as 0.3 to 0.4 mm, depending on the application and contaminant material. Rejection options include a 30-nozzle air blast or a six-flap rejector. This high-performance inspection and rejection capability protects downstream equipment, minimizes the risk of costly product recalls, and supports compliance with global safety standards. Typical applications for the X13 include dried, fresh, or frozen fruit and vegetables, nuts, legumes, confectionery, and cereals. The X-ray product range also includes Eagle, a high-performance line featuring advanced proprietary dual-energy photon counting technology and in-line fat analysis capabilities, designed for demanding applications in the meat and poultry sectors. Visual inspection solutions expand Mettler-Toledo’s portfolio by visually inspecting every product for a range of defects—including labeling errors—thereby reducing the risk of rework and product recalls. To automate real-time monitoring and enable customers to easily comply with evolving industry regulations and audit standards, Mettler-Toledo offers ProdX, a proprietary, comprehensive quality control software for food production designed to optimize operational efficiency through digitalization.

Space-saving combined solutions

The CM3350 combines checkweighing and metal detection into a single solution

For manufacturers looking to consolidate multiple quality checks into a single, space-saving system, Mettler-Toledo offers the CM3350 combination system, which integrates checkweighing and metal detection into one solution. For food manufacturers operating in confined spaces, handling frequent packaging format changes, or aiming to meet high production targets, combination systems offer a practical way to enhance quality control without adding unnecessary complexity to the production line. The innovations extend beyond the exhibition stand, as the “DemoVan” offers the chance to explore product inspection solutions in a more interactive setting. Visitors can also book the vehicle for a visit to their own production facility and meet the team from Mettler-Toledo’s Product Inspection division
