The Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida, has announced the issuance of the decree establishing the electronic accompanying document for the olive sector

“The introduction of the Electronic Olive Oil Accompanying Document (DAO) is an important step in defending the excellence of Italian extra virgin olive oil and protecting the work of our farmers. By digitising checks and ensuring full traceability in the SIAN, we are protecting the product’s origin, combating counterfeiting and guaranteeing maximum transparency for buyers.” This is what the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida , said when announcing the issuance of the decree establishing the DAO.

In addition to the introduction of the DAO, the decree establishes:

  • the integration of the farm file, SIAN and the Electronic Olive Oil Register;
  • the reduction of the time limit for registering operations from six to three days;
  • the direct involvement of olive growers in the digital traceability system;
  • more effective availability of data for risk analysis and inspection planning.

“The new system – according to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry – is an evolution of the already operational Electronic Olive Oil Register, leveraging existing infrastructure without imposing new burdens on public finances”.
