Verallia Italy, Europe’s leading manufacturer and the world’s third-largest producer of glass packaging for beverages and food products, has collaborated with Campari Group on the development of the new Aperol bottle. The design and creative direction were led by Campari Group in collaboration with Design Bridge and Partners, while Verallia Italy contributed to the engineering and industrialization of the project.
Launched in 2024, the collaboration involved Verallia Italy from the earliest development stages to support the industrialization of the creative concept, translating it into a technically consistent glass solution.
The result is a bottle that preserves the distinctive elements defined by the brand, enhancing its recognizability and functionality, while respecting its history and positioning in the premium segment.
The evolution of a design between creativity and engineering
The new design, developed by Campari Group, features more contemporary lines and a balanced silhouette, with a wavy glass neck designed to enhance the reflections of Aperol’s unmistakable orange color. The proportions, more defined and harmonious, help strengthen the bottle’s presence at the bar and on shelves.
In this context, Verallia Italy worked on engineering the geometries to ensure aesthetic consistency and large-scale manufacturability, maintaining high quality standards throughout the entire supply chain.
This collaboration is part of the evolution of an iconic product in the Italian aperitif segment, with the aim of combining visual identity, container quality, and production requirements, resulting in a solution that blends industrial precision with the quality of glass.
Shared development and eco-design
The initiative also incorporated eco-design principles through a structural lightweighting process of the container. All main formats were optimized in terms of weight, with a positive impact on the efficient use of raw materials, while maintaining unchanged quality and performance standards.
Verallia also highlights the value of this collaboration as an example of shared innovation:
«The collaboration with Campari Group in supporting the industrial development of the new Aperol bottle represents a project that brings together visual identity and production requirements – says the Verallia Italy team -. The result shows how glass can contribute to enhancing a historic brand, combining container quality, industrial performance, and efficiency».
The project confirms the role of glass as a premium material for beverage packaging and underscores the value of collaboration across the supply chain in developing advanced industrial solutions, where brand identity and production expertise find a balance.
