In wineries and beverage plants, floors are subjected daily to contact with wine, must and detergents, to traffic from handling vehicles and to frequent washing cycles. These conditions require surfaces that are resistant to chemical attack, wear and mechanical stress, while also ensuring ease of sanitisation and safety for operators.
Design and operational continuity
To address these requirements, IPM Italia develops seamless resin systems designed according to specific operational processes and the condition of the substrate. The process begins with a technical site inspection to assess the state of the subfloor, moisture levels, and anticipated mechanical or chemical stresses. Based on this evaluation, the preparation and coating cycle—as well as the appropriate thickness and finish—are determined to best suit the intended use.
In production environments, the seamless nature of these surfaces—free from joints or grout lines—facilitates the removal of residues and simplifies cleaning, helping to ensure compliance with HACCP procedures.
Defining the application cycle also involves scheduling the work, which is particularly critical when operating within an active facility. Substrate preparation, installation, and the return to service must be planned in alignment with production schedules and available downtime. If the condition of the existing floor allows, the new system can be applied directly over it; this approach minimizes the need for demolition and waste disposal, thereby reducing the impact on ongoing operations.
“We are well aware of the importance of a rapid installation process that allows a company to resume operations quickly; industrial processes are often highly sensitive to even short periods of downtime. Resin flooring is an excellent solution for this, thanks to its operational flexibility and fast installation”, explains Andrea Penati, CEO and Technical Director of IPM Italia.
A range for every need
Among the solutions for production and bottling areas, IPM Stratos is the multilayer epoxy system suitable for new or already levelled substrates, when a continuous and durable surface with limited thickness is required. Available with a monochrome effect and non-slip finish, in thicknesses from 1 to 2.5 mm, it combines resistance to wear and abrasion, quick installation and ease of cleaning. Its resistance to the acidic action of wine makes it ideal for use in winery environments.
On the other hand, when the existing flooring is so deteriorated that more extensive restoration work is required, IPM Blindo can restore the surface’s functionality. The thick epoxy screed system, with a monochrome finish, is designed to restore the wear layer, recover flatness, levels and slopes, and return the floor to operating conditions compatible with heavy traffic and loads.
For damp substrates, the range includes IPM Aquaperm® Stratos, a breathable, water-based, multi-layer system with an anti-slip finish. The water-based, solvent-free and zero-VOC technology promotes the passage of vapour from the substrate to the environment while maintaining the adhesion of the coating. The system offers glossy or satin finishes and chemical and mechanical resistance comparable to that of solvent-free systems.
For environments subjected to more severe chemical and thermal conditions, IPM Multicrete is the polyurethane-cement system recommended for use in the presence of frequent washing, temperature fluctuations and aggressive substances. In addition to high chemical and thermal resistance, it offers resistance to compression and abrasion, good breathability and adhesion to damp substrates.
Hygiene management also covers vertical surfaces and junctions with the floor. IPM Aquaperm® Ceramix, a water-based, breathable, vitrifying system for walls, enables the creation of a coating that is easy to wash and sanitise. Continuity with the flooring, through coved junctions, facilitates cleaning by reducing areas where residues accumulate.
When technical performance is combined with aesthetic customisation requirements, IPM Color Flake offers a decorative solution applied with a trowel in several coats, which allows the surface to be levelled and a good degree of flatness to be achieved.
For offices, showrooms, retail outlets and refreshment areas, IPM Fabrika offers a decorative coating inspired by concrete, which can also be applied to walls. In outdoor spaces, IPM GeoDrena® meets the requirements for draining rainwater: the porous structure of the natural aggregate flooring facilitates the flow of water through the surface, preventing stagnation and runoff.
From formulation to installation

In business since 1981, IPM Italia directly manages all stages of the project: a single point of contact supports the client from the technical analysis to implementation and, where necessary, the definition of targeted maintenance programmes. Projects in this sector include work for Kellerei Bozen – Cantina Bolzano and Cantina Pitticco, where different systems were used to meet the needs of the various environments.
All IPM Italia’s solutions for the wine and beverage sector will be presented at SIMEI 2026, from 17 to 20 November at Fiera Milano Rho, in Hall 3, Stand U12.
