The aim of a recent study, carried out by a group of international researchers (Wu et al., 2025), was to assess the impact of the sonication process on the bioaccessibility of honeysuckle (Lonicera caerulea L.) fruit purée using in vitro digestion tests.
During the experiment, the samples were assessed in terms of their polyphenolic compound content, antioxidant capacity and antiproliferative activity.
The results show that treatment at 300 W significantly increases antioxidant levels and improves the stability of antioxidant capacity, leading to greater antiproliferative activity. During the in vitro digestion tests, a total of 33 compounds were detected in both the treated and control samples.
