controls: green light for the role of food technologist"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On October 1st, the <strong>State-Regions Conference<\/strong> ratified an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/alimentibevande\/2026\/10\/accordo_tecnologo_alimentare_controlli_ufficiali.pdf\">agreement<\/a> <\/strong>establishing guidelines for the professional role of the <strong>food technologist <\/strong>within the scope of <strong>official controls<\/strong> and <strong>other official activities<\/strong> as defined by <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/HTML\/?uri=CELEX:32017R0625\">Regulation (EU) 2017\/625<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Competent authorities may therefore utilize this professional role in carrying out various activities, including\u2014as cited by way of example in Article 3 of the agreement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>assessment of processes<\/strong> regarding food production, processing, preservation, distribution, and serving;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>verification <\/strong>of requirements concerning safety, quality, traceability, and compliance for food and for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>verification <\/strong>of the implementation of self-control systems based on HACCP principles and risk management procedures adopted by food business operators;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>i<strong>nspection activities<\/strong>, audits, official sampling, and document reviews as required by current regulations;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>technical assessments <\/strong>regarding labeling, composition, nutrition and health claims, novel foods, foods intended for specific population groups, food supplements, additives, flavorings, food enzymes, and processing aids;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>technical support<\/strong> for administrative procedures resulting from official controls;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>risk analysis<\/strong>, data collection and processing, surveillance, and monitoring activities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>participation <\/strong>in training, professional development, and technical assistance programs for personnel involved in official controls.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The use of the food technologist role, in line with the &#8220;One Health&#8221; approach, fosters a <strong>multidisciplinary<\/strong> <strong>and multiprofessional environment<\/strong> for the execution of official controls and other
