offences: a book on the developments in the new legislation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Carlo Correra<\/strong>&#8216;s latest <strong>book<\/strong>, \u201c<strong>La nuova disciplina dei reati alimentari<\/strong>\u201d (The New Framework for Food-Related Offences), published by <strong>Tecniche Nuove<\/strong>, has been released .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The book became necessary with the entry into force, on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alimentibevande.it\/en\/food-safety\/agri-food-products-new-sanctions-in-effect-from-may-29th\/\"><strong>29 May<\/strong><\/a>, of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alimentibevande.it\/normativa\/legge-21-aprile-2026-n-75\/\"><strong>Law 75\/2026<\/strong><\/a>, which added further special provisions to the already complex landscape of Italian food legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alimentibevande.it\/en\/legislation\/food-crimes-amendments-to-the-criminal-code\/\">As a result<\/a>, new articles (517-sexies and 517-septies in the first instance) <strong>have been added<\/strong> to the current Criminal Code to provide for more<strong> specific penalties for \u201ccommercial fraud\u201d<\/strong> when it relates to food, as well as for profiteering based <strong>on \u201cmisleading\u201d claims.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAncillary\u201d penalties have been strengthened, and <strong>the amounts of administrative fines have been significantly increased<\/strong> (up to \u20ac150,000).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Particular attention and rigour have been applied <strong>to the dairy sector and, even more so, to the buffalo milk sector.<\/strong> Finally, there is an extensive overhaul of fisheries legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is now up to public and private operators in the \u201cagri-food<strong>\u201d sector to test the effectiveness of this further legislative initiative in practice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a
