residues in the EU: low risk to human health"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>&#8220;The risk to human health from pesticide residues remains low.&#8221; This is what the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.efsa.europa.eu\/en\">European Food Safety Authority<\/a><\/strong> (<strong>EFSA<\/strong>) stated in its new <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/efsa.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/epdf\/10.2903\/j.efsa.2026.10054\">annual report<\/a><\/strong>, which analyzed information on <strong>pesticide residues<\/strong> collected through both random and targeted monitoring programs on thousands of samples from common consumer products taken in <strong>2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>9,842<\/strong> samples were analyzed under the <strong>multiannual control program <\/strong>coordinated by the EU, of which <strong>1.2%<\/strong> were found to be non-compliant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>National sampling procedures, however, were used for <strong>86,449<\/strong> samples, with a non-compliance rate of <strong>1.8%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The enhanced import control program covered <strong>39,433 <\/strong>samples, with a non-compliance rate of <strong>3.6%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acute and chronic dietary exposure was estimated by providing the probabilities of exceeding health-based guideline values \u200b\u200bfor pesticide residues in food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, the estimated dietary risk was low for most EU population subgroups and for the substances evaluated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EFSA report also provides <strong>recommendations <\/strong>for risk managers to increase the effectiveness of European control systems and ensure a high level of consumer protection across the
