This milestone marks <strong>the first industrial deployment of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sidel.com\/en\"> Sidel<\/a>\u2019s next-generation pasteurisation technology in Italy<\/strong>, supporting Refresco\u2019s ongoing focus on operational efficiency, resource optimisation and compliance with evolving environmental and customer requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Designed around an intelligent counterflow concept and modular architecture, <strong>SWING<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Evo<\/strong> enables beverage producers to precisely control water, energy and thermal treatment at each stage of the process \u2013 delivering measurable efficiency gains without compromising product quality or flexibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A strategic investment supporting operational resilience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a global beverage solutions provider, Refresco integrates ESG into how it runs its operations and serves its customers. At the Sulmona plant, the decision to install SWING\u00ae Evo was driven by these priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe last challenge we decided to take on, following Sidel\u2019s proposal, was the installation of an innovative pasteuriser\u201d, explains <strong>Tullio Tiozzo, Manufacturing Director and Strategic Operations, Refresco Italia<\/strong>. \u201cThis technology supports more efficient management of energy and water within our operations. Compared with our previous solution, we achieved a reduction in energy and water consumption by a factor of 15 to 20, bringing us fully in line with our ESG commitments. This project has been a great success, thanks to the level of innovation it brings compared to traditional pasteurisers\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Intelligent energy recovery and proven efficiency in operation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The SWING<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Evo installed in Sulmona integrates two heat exchangers \u2013 one fed by hot water, one by steam \u2013 enabling intelligent prioritisation of recovered heat from cogeneration systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe were looking for a reliable and versatile solution, capable of combining efficiency with energy performance,\u201d says <strong>Daniele Di Luca, Utilities &amp; Energy Manager, Refresco Italy<\/strong>. \u201cSWING<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Evo met all these expectations. By prioritising recovered heat, <strong>we significantly reduced steam consumption<\/strong>. Water consumption is fully in line with declared figures, while <strong>electrical consumption is even better than expected<\/strong> \u2013 clear proof of the machine\u2019s high efficiency. This supports our Group-wide objectives on energy efficiency and resource management\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quality, flexibility and ease of use on a complex product mix<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond <strong>sustainability<\/strong>,<strong> pasteurisation accuracy <\/strong>and <strong>operational flexibility <\/strong>were key requirements for the Sulmona site, which handles a wide variety of products and SKUs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFrom a quality and thermal treatment perspective, the Sidel pasteuriser has proven extreme reliability\u201d, comments <strong>Federica Schiavo, QFS Assurance Specialist, Refresco<\/strong>. \u201cSWING<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Evo respects all pasteurisation constraints, whether in terms of PU units or holding times above specific temperatures. It is flexible, easy to use and simple to monitor, even with very different products.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This performance is supported by <strong>Sidel\u2019s PRINCE X predictive control system<\/strong>, which continuously analyses temperature evolution and dynamically adjusts spray conditions to prevent under- or over-pasteurisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fast installation and operator-friendly design<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to its compact, modular and largely pre-assembled design, SWING<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Evo was installed and commissioned at the Sulmona plant in just one week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat really impressed us was the simplicity of installation\u201d, says <strong>Leonardo Di Vito, Technical and Production Manager, Refresco<\/strong>. \u201cThe pasteuriser arrived mostly pre-assembled, and both installation and start-up were completed smoothly, without any issues\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Designed for daily operational efficiency, SWING<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Evo features sliding front doors, full top access and tool-free maintenance, ensuring safe, fast and comfortable interventions for production teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Performance through intelligent simplicity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first Italian installation of SWING<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Evo at Refresco Sulmona demonstrates how targeted technological investment can support improved efficiency, resource performance and operational simplicity.
